Indi and Reds birth story: The birth of Luca. Preeclampsia, High-Risk, Drug-Free Natural Birth.

Firstly I just want to thank Indi and Red for sharing their very inspiring birth story. I feel like it really highlights one of the main points that I try to communicate to all my parents and birth partners 'The Hypnobirthing, Positive Birth Program is about having a positive birth despite any twists and turns your birth may face'. Indi and Red most certainly showed this so beautifully.

From Indi:

My birth was the most challenging and rewarding thing I've ever accomplished. From the get go, nothing went to plan. I'd not slept the 2 nights prior due to intense pre-labour and a false alarm trip to the hospital only to be told I was only 1cm. So by the time I was actually ready to go I was exhausted!

When I got to the hospital, I was told that I had preeclapsia (despite having healthy blood pressure throughout the whole pregnancy), this meant that the water birth that I had been hoping for was unfortunately not doable. To top it off I was unable to wee and was hooked up to a catheter and unable to keep fluids down so they had hooked me up to an IV drip to keep me hydrated. Another cord was attached to bubs head to monitor his heart-rate - basically, there were so many cords it was a challenge just to move around without being tangled.

Thanks to Kate's class I was equipped with all the tools to help me breath my way through the days of heavy surges without pain relief and remain positive despite nothing turning out as I'd imagined.

They had to do a small cut as his heart rate was dropping toward the end and they wanted him out quicker and the only pain relief I had was the gas as they were stitching me up afterward.

My birth has bought out this strength and intuition in me that I didn't even know I had.

Thanks again for everything, I don't know what I'd have done without your course.

A huge congratulations on the safe and positive birth of baby Luca <3
